October 2007: baa-baa blind highly commended at the Baby and Child Recognition awards
It was a closely fought race in the 'must-have' category with 51 entries battling to be the next must-have product stockists would be clamouring to stock.
The Baby Products Association judges shortlisted the baa-baa blind in the final twelve, then on the night we were highly commended in the top six products.
We were beaten to the title by the Axis swivelling car seat, a new Quinny pushchair and the latest edition Bugaboo.
Some may say we were punching above our weight, so to be commended in the first six months was a huge acheivment!
November 2007: baa-baa blinds are shortlisted at the Birmingham Design Initiative (BDI) Industry and Genius Awards, naming the top building, environmental and product designs in the West Midlands.
Making the top three in the Interior Products category the baa-baa blind was beaten by a modern design chair. Hardly surprising really given that the baa-baa blind was designed with functionality as a priority, rather than interior design.
Had there been a more appropriate category to enter we feel sure we would have been more successful. Still at least we got to hear actor Tony Robinson (aka Baldrick) utter the words baa-baa blinds!
The awards have become the most prestigious event on the calendar for rewarding creativity in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
January 2008: A happy and restful 2008 to all our baa-baa blind customers.
The business is now having to take on a more formal structure, no more flying by the seat of our pants! 2007 and proved very successful meaning we now have ambitious plans for 2008, we even have outside investors now.
Production is going more large-scale, we have a few more major stockists and the publicity is picking up momentum again. Look out for us in April's edition of Mother and Baby magazine in an article about inventor mums.
We will be at the London Baby show in February, and at the NEC in May. Please stop by and say hello, our first customers were the the key to our success thanks to all your kind word of mouth passing on the baa-baa word!
March 2008: We received a special recognition award for the Baa-baa blind at the 2008 British Female Inventors & Innovators Network conference and awards in Cardiff (BFIIN).
Due to huge demand the baa-baa blind has temporarily sold-out but the next shipment is ready to leave for the UK any day now so if you fill out the form on the shop page we will let you all know as soon as we are selling again (around mid-april).
There will be plenty to go around!
April 2008: Baby baa-baa has arrived early, 8lbs 4oz was born Monday April 21st. Baby Joss is not a keen sleeper but a big eater, she's already a whiz at packing blinds though!
We are just managing to keep up with orders but excuse us if we sound a little tired when you call!
